Pakistan’s commercial poultry industry is transitioning from traditional to high-tech farming. IoT sensors and real-time analytics are helping to prevent disease outbreaks and reduce losses. Previously, farms only reacted after diseases appeared, but new Io
T-based software now enables a proactive approach. Sensors in the shed continuously monitor air and water quality, humidity and temperature, and control ventilation, feeding, and watering systems.
Any unusual change triggers immediate alerts, allowing the farmer to react quickly. The system also supports remote monitoring via a mobile app that displays all operational data—from poultry health to environmental information. Beyond poultry farms, this technology is also being used in poultry logistics to monitor vehicle speed, impacts, and handling, thereby minimizing transport related chicken deaths. Recently, a poultry farm in Sindh, with financial support from a USAID-funded Silicon Valley program signed a memorandum of understanding with a US software company to install IoT devices with comprehensive monitoring software.
